Game Review: Thunder Force III + Thunder Spirits

This review gets back to the basics. Not a lot of special effects in this one; mostly, it’s just me and the game — or in this case, games. And believe me: I had fun. ^^

The real review is of the classic Sega Genesis shooter Thunder Force III, one of my favorite games ever. There’s also an incidental review of Thunder Spirits for the SNES, a game that, by comparison, is… somewhat lacking. Anyway, please sit back, relax and enjoy this little trip through the world of gaming nostalgia. :)

Not to mention it's based on the arcade version.

    Yes, that, too. ^^

You are not alone in the “eh at shoot 'em ups” department!
Also, there's something about the sound effects in Sega games I just realized, that are so appealing to my ear for some reason. I can't place it. Specifically the sounds from Gorgon.

  4. The Pixie says:

Yeah, I agree. Somehow, some way, this game managed to get practically everything just right, right down to the sound effect. ^^ For some reason, the SNES version sounds really wimpy by comparison.

My old Sega Genesis was my favorite system untill the Gamecube came out! For some reason, I’ve always likes the graphics, games, ect. better than on the SNES. Maybe it’s because I grew up on Sonic and Golden Axe…

Great review, and thank you for the term “Fun Unit,” which I will now be using extensively when discussing games in polite company…
