Somehow, I never played a Silent Hill game before I got my hands on this one. Here are my first-time impressions. Oh, and please watch through the credits. There’s much more to come.

The story is indeed corny, but the atmosphere makes up for it really well, I think. In fact, that’s what makes the overall experience for me. The sound, how real the locations feel, and so on. It’s like you stepped into a very different, and yet very real feeling place.
I don’t think of them as games so much as experiences to be immersed in, and I don’t get to say that very often about games at all.

I’m glad I liked it, too. ^^ And yeah, in this one, the atmosphere compensates for the… oddness… of certain elements.
I’ve also played through Silent Hill 2 now. I have to admit that, because of the story, I prefer that one. ^^; But I wouldn’t have gotten into it all if it weren’t for SH3, and I look forward to playing the first game (I seem to be doing it backward…) to get a bit of context.
Yeah, Silent Hill 2 is the popular fan favorite. I’m actually not that big on it myself, but I think it’s awesome that you’re into the series.
And I also played out of order, starting with SH3 and working my way back to the first, before going to SH4 and onward!
I wonder what you’ll think of Silent Hill Shattered Memories for the Wii/PS2/PSP? It’s divisive for trying to be different, and succeeding.

I don’t see why it’s the favorite of so many Silent Hill fans but I enjoy it. You should definitely review Silent Hill 2. It’s my favorite of the series next to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories which you should also review.
I plan to review Silent Hill 1-3 (yes, I’ll be revisiting this one) for Halloween. I’d review some of the others, but I don’t have them and can’t buy them at the moment.
Silent Hill 2 is my favorite, too! The story is so unique and well-executed. Also, Pyramid Head. ^_^;
Silent Hill Origins is also a good game.
Silent Hill 3 is easily my favorite in the series! Owowow, keep the videos coming…..

I’ve never played any of the Silent hill games before, but I reckon I’ll go check em out now, they actually look ok.
Of the ones I’ve played, my favorite is the second one. The story is VERY unusual for a horror game.
